License

PaperTrail is licensed to you under Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement (EULA). By downloading or using the app you agree to that EULA and to the additional terms on this page. Where these terms and the standard EULA differ, the standard EULA prevails.

PaperTrail Plus subscriptions

PaperTrail's core features are free. PaperTrail Plus is an optional paid membership that unlocks extras such as household sharing, insurance reports, hand-off packets, repair timelines, and manuals on file. Plus is offered as:

• Monthly — an auto-renewable subscription billed monthly.
• Yearly — an auto-renewable subscription billed annually.
• Lifetime — a one-time purchase, no renewal.

Prices are shown in the app before you buy and may vary by region. Where a free trial or introductory offer is available, its length and price are shown at the point of purchase; any unused portion of a free trial is forfeited when you purchase a subscription.

Billing, renewal & cancellation

• Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase.
• Subscriptions renew automatically unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the current period ends.
• Manage or cancel anytime in iOS Settings → your name → Subscriptions, or from Manage Subscription inside PaperTrail. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
• Refunds are handled by Apple under their standard policies — request one at reportaproblem.apple.com.

Your data & responsibilities

Your records live on your device and in your own private iCloud account — PaperTrail has no servers holding your data, so you are responsible for keeping iCloud sync enabled or exporting backups if you want your records preserved across devices or after device loss. How data is handled is covered in the Privacy Policy.

PaperTrail's scanning and extraction are assistive: extracted fields (amounts, dates, warranty periods) can be wrong, and reminders can be missed by the OS. Always verify important details against the original document. PaperTrail is not a substitute for professional record-keeping, legal, tax, or insurance advice, and warranty information shown in the app does not alter the actual warranty terms offered by a manufacturer or retailer.

Fair use

Don't use PaperTrail to store or share unlawful content, attempt to reverse-engineer or disrupt the app or its services, or misuse household sharing invitations. Community learning contributions (off by default) must not deliberately include personal or misleading data.

Changes & contact

These terms may be updated as the app evolves; the "Last updated" date above reflects the current revision, and continued use after a change constitutes acceptance. If a change materially affects Plus, it will be highlighted in the app.
